Tips & Troubleshooting
Solutions to technical issues in the studio
Why is my recording or imported audio in the wrong pitch/key?
Imagine a movie. Because of a higher film rate, you see a smooth flow of images instead of a sequence of still images. The same goes with a sample rate in audio. If a sound is played back in the wrong pitch, most likely it's in a non-supported sample rate. When importing audio, make sure you use only audio files with a sample rate of 44.1 kHZ. (The bitrate can be both 16 and 24 bit.) For recording audio, make sure your audio interface or computer audio settings are set to use a sample rate of
Where can I find my saved tracks?
To find your saved tracks, click "File" from the top menu in the studio and "Open". All your saved tracks will be displayed on the pop-up. Running out of space? You might need to upgrade your account! Get more details here: https://soundation.com/accounts
Why can't I save my track?
If you can't save your track, make sure you're fully logged in, as a browser session can sometimes log you out without you noticing! You can also try logging out and in again within the studio without closing the studio down and then try saving your track again. If can't save a track that contains imported or recorded audio, please see this article here: https://support.soundation.com/en/article/why-is-imported-audio-in-my-track-empty-and-not-loading-1rej3b1/
Why is my track lagging, glitching or stuttering?
If you experience choppy, laggy or stuttering playback, it's a sign that your track is using a lot of computer processing power. Don't worry, this can typicaly be fixed by setting the studio to a higher buffer size. To do this, click "Settings" on the top menu in the studio and "Edit Settings". On a pop-up, choose a higher number in the drop down menu under ”Buffer Size” and click "OK". Try raising the buffer size until the playback is smooth again.
Why is imported audio in my track empty and not loading?
Perhaps it's time to upgrade your account! As a Free user, you can save tracks that contain audio from our free sound library, but you won’t be able to save recorded or imported audio. If you open a saved track and the audio files aren't loading, you're likely on a plan that doesn't support recorded and imported audio. To save tracks containing your own audio files, you'll need a paid account. (Believe us, it's worth it). Upgrade here: https://soundation.com/accounts
Why are audio files from the sound library not loading?
Do they work with other browsers or computers? If not, then check the next step. Do they work without the router? If yes, then the router is the problem. If none of the files from the sound library are loading, there could be a connection issue caused by an internet router or firewall. A solution to this is to whitelist soundation.com in the router settings.
Why doesn't the studio publish my full track? Why is my track empty when I export?
Rule #1: Check your loop. It could be that the yellow loop locators are active and set either to a very short range or not the full track. When the loop locators are active, the studio will only publish and export the clips within the locators. If they're set too short, there may not be anything to export at all. A solution is to turn off the loop locators by clicking the yellow line in the timeline or ticking off "Loop" in the transport bar. You can also set the loop locators to your son
Can I retrieve any of my deleted tracks?
Unfortunately once you've deleted tracks from your studio, it's not possible for us to retrieve them. To prevent losing unsaved work, export your track in .sng file and make sure to check (and double check!) that you delete the right tracks before clicking to confirm!
Why is the studio playback unresponsive?
This shouldn't be happening! In the rare case that playback is unresponsive, please restart your browser and studio and try again. You can also clear browsing data by clearing ”Cached images and files” from ”The beginning of time” on your browser's settings then restarting the studio. Clearing the cache will let the studio redownload all resources.
